Kazuma Obara
Born in 1985 in Iwate. Graduated from his masters course in Photojournalism from University of the Arts London. In 2012, he published the book, “Reset” from Lars Müller Publishers (Switzerland) which covered the workers at the Fukushima nuclear power plant through their interviews and portraits. In 2014, his book about the lives of the children who suffered through the Second World War, “silent histories”, came out from Editorial RM and was nominated in the US magazine TIME as one of the best photography books. From 2015, he worked on his series “Exposure”, which focused on the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This project has earned the first prize at the World Press Photo 2015 in the People category. In 2018, “Exposure” was published from Editorial RM. He is now woking on his project, “The Shape of War” with the support of the Japanese embassy in Netherlands. He has been participating to international photography festivals as well as organizing workshops worldwide.
