What I find most interesting about photography is its transformation of the world in front of me into a two dimensional surface. The photograph, which has been deprived of a dimension, is a very accurate copy of the world in front of me. At the same time, the photograph has a parallel structure and the closer it is to the world in front of me, the more dissimilar it becomes. Reducing the world to two dimensions simply requires an adjustment of focus and aperture. The image produced by controlling aperture and focus is nothing but evidence that what it captured existed in front of the lens.

I believe that consciously controlling the photographic image and using photographic images as archival documents can expand the way photography is perceived. I also feel that beyond the archival image exists a truly independent photographic image.
